Lofty's Visit to Canada & Alaska 2005
Continued.

I was sorry to leave the Rockies behind me but I had know to make my way to Vancouver which was some distance away, although I was still be greeted by fantastic views.

Even an iron bridge held it's secrets, as I neared so I could see the large nest that had been made on top of the iron structure, obviously an Osprey, further investigation revealed that she or he was in fact at home and almost certainly sitting on eggs or chicks the nearby river waiting to supply all the food they needed.

As I slowly made my way back to Vancouver so I came into contact with light industry. It was intriguing to see the Log homes under construction in the timber yards being put together as a kit only to be later taken apart and sent to the new owner.

The way the various diameter logs trunks had been used to form the walls was interesting to say the least. In all neater than the Ospreys nest but about to perform the same function!

.

I was still finding very good RV sites and in most cases £15 or 30+ Canadian dollars got you a site for the night with all the facilities required, including in most cases a laundry room complete with iron. And I must say I had some fantastic birds as neighbours, in this case a Plover, and an American Robin. In one instance I sat watching them, waiting for the opportunity to catch them on camera! And I'm pleased to say my patience paid off.

Yes the humming birds, visiting the nectar feeder placed there for them by the considerate site owner but still very difficult to photograph with the digital, due to the slight delay, but I won in the end

Now unlike some of the National park roads, lorries were about in great numbers, all of the loads they were carrying should have been delivered yesterday! So there was a need to keep an eye open and give way as often as the roads allowed. One word of praise for the Canadian drivers in 2260 km we only saw one accident, and luckily that was easily bypassed by the use of a minor road.

Almost to the last this trip produced fantastic views with wonderful reflections.

Oh and in case you wondered we I see any Cowboys with cows! yes and cow girls! she of course was with the chaps!
And we saw where the Indians live!

How did I get on in the RV for two weeks? well at least unlike the squirrels, I didn't turn my back on my partner like these two!

Now what's a meal got to do with Canada, well all I did was order a piece of apple pie, with coffee!
2 cups of coffee and the meal you see before you all for the sum of 9 dollars I calculated that to be about £3.50. Am I going back to Canada? "You bet" even if it's for the apple pie. Hope you enjoyed the photographs, if you wish to use any of them feel free, if they are for commercial purposes then just put a few coppers in the next charity box you pass,

thanks lofty
